The first chapter will attempt to illustrate the situation of the car market and the automotive industry, sectors of national economies and decisive for today's individual, who sees in the car the very symbol of freedom and social and economic emancipation. Alongside an overview of the automotive industry and the strengths it represented in the 20th century, the chapter will then present, in the second part, a focus on the Green Economy and the progressive conversion of almost all traditional carmakers to the electric car, the challenge of the new millennium. The chapter will conclude with an emphasis on the research and market strategies of carmakers, before dealing with the Tesla phenomenon.. The second chapter illustrates that Musk's primary goal was to accelerate the introduction of sustainable transport into the mass market, a desire that could not be translated into reality from the very beginning as it was considered impossible. Starting from this observation, Tesla's business model is reviewed, starting from its value proposition, i.e., the way in which each company creates and transmits value to its target customers, key conditions and profit proposition. Thus, it will be highlighted how Tesla has presented itself as a model of disruptive industry, i.e. capable of breaking the consolidated patterns of production and sales of an entire sector, introducing an innovation strategy capable of upsetting the starting conditions of the automotive industry, pushing competitors to have to deeply change their economic and industrial model, in order to survive and compete in the market. The last chapter, main pillar of this work, focuses on the purely economic and financial analysis of Elon Musk's project and a subsequent financial comparison of Tesla Inc with respect to the “5 Sisters” (Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Google, Microsoft) and the best players of the automotive sector. Here the objective will be twofold: on the one hand, a valuation of Tesla will be carried out through the Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) in order to assess the soundness of its listing in the stock market; on the other hand, the trend of the main financial indicators and ratios will be evaluated and then compared with those of the "5 Sisters" and the major players in the automotive market. The final purpose of this final analysis will then be to ascertain to what sector Tesla approaches as regards the financial aspect.

Abstract
The final purpose of this final analysis will then be to ascertain to what sector Tesla approaches as regards the financial aspect.È consentito all'utente scaricare e condividere i documenti disponibili a testo pieno in UNITESI UNIPV nel rispetto della licenza Creative Commons del tipo CC BY NC ND.
