Abstract
In a society made up of older people in need of intensive care, the National Health System has to face many needs. To the unlimited needs of citizens for limited responses from the state. Adequate adherence to prescriptions must link to chronic pathologies; a lack of appropriateness entails high costs for the NHS. On the other hand, excessive use of unnecessary drugs also leads to costs that the state can no longer afford. An initial approach to nutraceuticals could represent a solution to these problems. Nutraceuticals are foods selected and derived from the diet among foods and pharmaceutical products; the active ingredients and substances obtained from food or plants supplied to have a beneficial effect on humans. In the presence of an already severe disease, these foods can be used only to alleviate the symptoms by acting as adjuvants of drugs; we cannot cure the virus already in place. For this reason, they classified as 'proactive medicine' for primary and non-secondary prevention. Remember that proper prevention and adherence to therapy guaranteed for the maintenance of health costs. To date, numerous analyzes have become a population over the age of 65. Use these foods regularly because they are more and more exciting and correct and healthy lifestyle. Nutraceuticals 'embrace' numerous chronic diseases including oncological, hormonal, and cardiovascular ones; among these essential principles are polyunsaturated fatty acids, vitamins A, B, and D, polyphenols and coenzymes. Numerous studies conducted both in Italy and in other countries such as France and Canada show that constant consumption of food is present as probiotics and fibres both capable of preventing and reducing the burden of diseases. The goal of health policies is to promote awareness campaigns, integrated the economic gap between public (SSN) and private spending. OSMED data selected as the majority of the population, after receiving the prescription, is not only given incorrectly but using some drugs is incorrectly provided. Nutraceuticals can represent the new business of companies but above all of the pharmacies; the doctor and pharmacist must be able to communicate the benefits of these foods to the patient to determine optimal adherence. The pharmacist works within the 'Pharmacy of Services', aimed at responding to customer needs. We must remember, however, how nutraceuticals remain perhaps not within everyone's reach due to a high enough cost to adhere to them; for this reason, an initial cost reduction could choose to extend the use to the whole population. The citizen is therefore at the centre of this new 'system of choices'; will he be able to decide correctly by not collapsing the NHS?È consentito all'utente scaricare e condividere i documenti disponibili a testo pieno in UNITESI UNIPV nel rispetto della licenza Creative Commons del tipo CC BY NC ND.
