This thesis deals with the Killing/Letting Die Distinction debate. In particular, it deals with the proposal offered by Philippa Foot, aimed at emphasizing not only the existence of this distinction, but also how it is based on the greater strength of negative duties than positive ones. This proposal leads, however, to the famous Trolley Problem and the problems connected to it. In the thesis emerges, in particular, the position of J.Thomson and F.M. Kamm. In the last chapter, however, "The survival lottery" by J.Harris is reported, which allows us to show the issues related to the use of thought experiments in ethics and in bioethics.
Kamm. Nell’ultimo capitolo, invece, viene riportata la “The survival lottery” di J.Harris, la quale ci permette di far luce sulle problematiche legate all’utilizzo di esperimenti mentali in etica e in bioetica.

Abstract
This thesis deals with the Killing/Letting Die Distinction debate. In particular, it deals with the proposal offered by Philippa Foot, aimed at emphasizing not only the existence of this distinction, but also how it is based on the greater strength of negative duties than positive ones. This proposal leads, however, to the famous Trolley Problem and the problems connected to it. In the thesis emerges, in particular, the position of J.Thomson and F.M. Kamm. In the last chapter, however, "The survival lottery" by J.Harris is reported, which allows us to show the issues related to the use of thought experiments in ethics and in bioethics.È consentito all'utente scaricare e condividere i documenti disponibili a testo pieno in UNITESI UNIPV nel rispetto della licenza Creative Commons del tipo CC BY NC ND.
