The aim of this Master Thesis concerns the state of art of Digital Twin paradigm in the machine tools sector. A brief inspection of the term Digital Twin is developed for exploring how Michael Grieves embryonic concept evolved till nowadays. Later in the treatment, some examples of Digital Twin classifications are proposed, and the most relevant market solutions are analysed. The machine tools field offers different perspectives to Digital Twin paradigm and one of the objectives of this work is to investigate the differences among them to discuss and underline the needs of each user. Following, SINUMERIK ONE, the new solution proposed by Siemens, a market leader in this field, is argued. This solution is analysed in detail to highlight interesting features for machine tool builders and product manufacturers. SINUMERIK ONE helps these users to face the new challenges requested by the Market: short time to market with more efficiency, flexibility and increasing quality

Abstract
SINUMERIK ONE helps these users to face the new challenges requested by the Market: short time to market with more efficiency, flexibility and increasing qualityÈ consentito all'utente scaricare e condividere i documenti disponibili a testo pieno in UNITESI UNIPV nel rispetto della licenza Creative Commons del tipo CC BY NC ND.
