The purpose of this thesis is to investigate, how small and medium-sized enterprises show and build organizational resilience in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. A qualitative study applying grounded theory to five small and medium-sized enterprises based and operating in different countries and industries was done to investigate empirically the firm’s resilience-building mechanisms. A dynamic business resilience model was found, composed of three phases in time that build on each other. Twelve propositions were developed, indicating specific relationships between the identified phases and factors within the resilience model. This work also provides practical implications for managers and entrepreneurs. Furthermore, it contributes to existent literature on organizational resilience as its empirical design and unit of analysis counterbalances the extant dominance of theoretical and conceptual works and studies on large organizations. It provides insights on organizational resilience in a still ongoing and new research context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract
It provides insights on organizational resilience in a still ongoing and new research context of the COVID-19 pandemic.È consentito all'utente scaricare e condividere i documenti disponibili a testo pieno in UNITESI UNIPV nel rispetto della licenza Creative Commons del tipo CC BY NC ND.
