It was a normal afternoon of the week and after a morning of university lectures, I was looking for a topic to bring as a project for the exam of "Big Data and computational models" that could combine my passions with what I learned during this course. While I was watching a docuseries, on one of the many subscription streaming platforms, which dealt with the career of one of the greatest players in the history of American basketball, here was the enlightenment: “Why not associate the sport of basketball with the world of Big Data and marketing”. Consulting with my project colleague, here comes the great idea: to make a project in which we will have included the marketing and Big Data methodologies in the Italian Basketball Championship, taking as a reference the Varese Basket team as in the last decade it can be considered as a "historical fall". The more we spent time on the phone discussing the organization of the project, the more we realized that there was a gigantic world behind us to consider, so much so that we only had to consider the main issues to bring to the examination. So here comes my decision to deepen every single theme, expanding the basic idea into a thesis theme. The first chapter is very theoretical and static. All the elements that are connected with the world of Big Data are listed with many technical and unique terms for that circumstance. The aim is to let the reader enter a new reality based on numbers that so far only knows about the automatisms present in technologies and the digital world. The second chapter is mainly based on concrete facts and very emotional experiences that will be useful to go beyond the confrontation that exists between man and machine. So a first view of the influence of sport technologies and how much it can affect the nature of sport and the person. The third chapter is the real object of the thesis if not the thesis itself. In fact, in terms of length it is the most full-bodied and interesting one. We can say that it can be divided into two parts: a first part based on the use of Big Data with the main purpose of improving the sports performance of the team under consideration, namely "Varese Basket". Instead, the second part is based on the use of Big Data with the aim of creating and improving the marketing campaign that Varese Basket is already running. Finally, the fourth, and final chapter, has the task of clarifying the situation regarding privacy and data protection on the Internet, and showing how public opinion in the world of sport has a significant weight especially when it comes to change and innovation.

Abstract
Finally, the fourth, and final chapter, has the task of clarifying the situation regarding privacy and data protection on the Internet, and showing how public opinion in the world of sport has a significant weight especially when it comes to change and innovation.È consentito all'utente scaricare e condividere i documenti disponibili a testo pieno in UNITESI UNIPV nel rispetto della licenza Creative Commons del tipo CC BY NC ND.
