ABELMOSCHUS ESCULENTUS

Also called Okra or Okra, Abelmoschus esculentus (L). Moench is a plant grown in tropical, subtropical and temperate regions around the world. It is classified as an angiosperm belonging to the mallow family. It is a very special plant because all its parts are used. In the present thesis, a global presentation of the plant is made. In the first part the description of the plant is proposed, ie systematic position, morphological description, phytogeography and drug. In the second and third part, the presentation of active ingredients and the different pharmacological activities of the plant are present. In the fourth and fifth part the phytotherapeutic and ethnobotanical uses are reported. The sixth part highlights the extraction and processing practices, and finally the other uses of the plant. All this will allow us to evaluate the possibility of using Abelmoschus esculentus (L). Moench as such or in the development of new drugs.

Chiamato anche Gombo o Okra, Abelmoschus esculentus (L). Moench è una pianta coltivata nelle regioni tropicali, subtropicali e temperate di tutto il mondo. È classificata come angiosperma appartenente alla famiglia delle malvacee. È una pianta molto particolare perché tutte le sue parti vengono utilizzate. Nel presente elaborato di tesi, viene fatto una presentazione globale della pianta. Nella prima parte viene proposta la descrizione della pianta cioè posizione sistematica, descrizione morfologica, fitogeografia e la drogo. Nella seconda e nella terza parte , sono presenti la presentazione principi attivi e delle diverse attività farmacologiche della pianta. Nella quarta e nella la quinta parte sono riportati gli usi fitoterapeutici ed etnobotanici. Nella sesta parte sono evidenziate le pratiche di estrazione e lavorazione, ed infine gli altri usi della pianta. Tutto questo permetterà di valutare la possibilità dell’ uso di Abelmoschus esculentus (L). Moench come tale oppure nello sviluppo di nuovi farmaci.
