AFFRONTARE LA QUESTIONE DELL'USO OFF-LABEL DEI FARMACI AUTORIZZATI NELLE MALATTIE RARE: L'ESEMPIO DELLA DULOXETINA NELLA MALATTIA NEUROMUSCOLARE

The activity consisted in the evaluation of the prescriptions in neuromuscular unit. Especially ,we focused on off-label prescriptions in rare neuromuscular diseases. We conducted a retrospective study on off label prescriptions in the unit and highlighted medications that were mostly prescribed off-label. Notably, duloxetine was widely prescribed in case of neuropathic pain associated with neuromuscular disease, although the label is restrained to diabetic neuropathic pain. Then ,we performed a systematic literature review and provided a report to the competent authority, in order to modify the national framework for the use of duloxetine in neuropathic pain associated with neuromuscular diseases.

L'attività consisteva nella valutazione delle prescrizioni nell'unità neuromuscolare. In particolare, ci siamo concentrati sulle prescrizioni off-label nelle malattie neuromuscolari rare. Abbiamo condotto uno studio retrospettivo sulle prescrizioni off-label nell'unità e abbiamo evidenziato i farmaci maggiormente prescritti off-label. In particolare, la duloxetina è stata ampiamente prescritta in caso di dolore neuropatico associato a malattie neuromuscolari, sebbene l'etichetta sia limitata al dolore neuropatico diabetico. Abbiamo quindi effettuato una revisione sistematica della letteratura e fornito una relazione all'autorità competente, al fine di modificare il quadro nazionale per l'uso della duloxetina nel dolore neuropatico associato a malattie neuromuscolari.
