Emotional face processing of the human social interactions involves perception of emotional information from the faces of other people. Furthermore, such emotional processes are thought to be aberrant in a range of clinical disorders, including psychosis and depression. However, the exact neurofunctional maps underlying processing of the facial emotional expressions are not well defined. This meta-analysis sought to further clarify neural correlates of perception during human emotional face presentation of five different types of basic emotional faces (i.e., sadness, fear, happiness, disgust, anger). Seed-based d mapping approach were used to synthesize both effect size and location information of brain activation peaks. Whole-brain studies to produce anatomically unbiased location of effects were incorporated ‘faces processing for five different types of basic emotional faces (i.e., sadness, fear, happiness, disgust, anger).

Abstract
