Introduction: as life expectancy has increased and lifestyles have changed, there has been a consequent increase in chronic-degenerative diseases. Among these diseases are dementias. Dementias are marked by chronic and irreversible cognitive impairment that impairs cognitive function. The different pictures of dementia are not always overt; in fact, situations characterized by moderate cognitive difficulties often occur . This type of condition is also referred to as Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), a condition that indicates individuals at risk for dementia. There are two types of MCI: amnestic MCI (aMCI) and nonamnestic MCI (naMCI). Depending on the category, certain cognitive functions are affected more than others. Subjects with memory and attention deficits often have difficulty performing tasks in which a motor task is required along with a cognitive task. Dual-task training is an intervention in which a motor task is combined with a cognitive task simultaneously. Aims: To identify evidence in the literature on the effectiveness of dual-task training in improving memory and attention in subjects with MCI. Materials and methods: to answer the research question, a literature review was performed between October 2022 and February 2023 using the criteria of the PRISMA method . Scopus, Cinahl and Web of Science databases were consulted. Articles to be relevant to the research question had to have used dual-task training in subjects with MCI. No restrictions were placed on the gender of patients involved in the studies. Results: seven relevant articles were identified. Of the articles included in the search, five studies showed significant improvement in working and episodic memory after the administration of dual-task training. Two articles, on the other hand, showed that dual-task training is able to increase attention. Conclusions: the present allows us to state that dual-task training is an effective method for improving memory and attention in subjects with MCI.
Sono stati consultati i database Scopus, Cinahl e Web of Science.
