The concept of sustainability is nowadays gaining more and more an attention from institution, media, government, and customer. In last decades humanity has gone through a rising number of environmental issues, which led to a strong position from several stakeholder in the fight against environmental change and global warm. Data from major institution and researcher show the possibility to have a higher number of issues and effect, if there will not be a strong position and commitment to address the environmental problem. A relevant data that highlight the difficult environmental situation we are facing, is that, in last five years, the Earth Overshoot Day fall in August, and according to different studies the 2050, the temperature is expected to rise of 2° C, leading to several effects. Those factors have led to a growth of interest and in the value market of what is being called green economy. A green economy is defined as low carbon, resource efficient and socially inclusive. In a green economy, growth in employment and income are driven by public and private investment into such economic activities, infrastructure and assets that allow reduced carbon emissions and pollution, enhanced energy and resource efficiency, and prevention of the loss of biodiversity and ecosystem services. Green economy includes an important aspect which is defined as eco innovation, which is innovation, aiming at decreasing environmental impact while maintaining cost efficiency. It is well known that every company has as main goal to increase their profit and increase their presence in the market. In this thesis there will be the analysis of the concept of eco innovation and the impact on environment. Following with the research there will be an analysis of how a company can perform a strategy that led to success through innovation, and according to regulation or for management decision companies introduced in their process and strategy the presence of eco innovation. Eco innovation is expected to see a big increase in following year, due to incentive from market and policy. There are several studies which shows how eco innovation can really impact on environmental performance, gaining overall a positive effect, in term of pollution, water waste, chemical material etc. As company are looking for more and more profit, when applying innovation, it has to be evaluated the link between innovation and company success. Companies use innovation as a strategy success than can lead to internationalization and a better export performance. It is important in the same way the analysis of impact of eco innovation in export performance. According to several studies there is a positive relationship between eco innovation and internationalization, since eco innovation, allows companies to catch more market opportunity and catch more regulation standard and in addition, to lower cost and be more efficient. In general, there is even a positive relation between innovation and internationalization of a company. Another important factor is that eco innovation that can lead to energy efficiency, with a cost reduction, and following a higher possibility to invest in market expansion. Since the goal of the thesis is also to enrich the literature review, there will be the analysis of the impact of eco innovation on international performance of 8 selected companies, through interview carried and analyzed from myself. The result of this analysis is that 5 out of 8 companies that have introduced eco innovation are facing higher international performance.
Il concetto di sostenibilità sta prendendo sempre più attenzione da parte di istituzioni, media, governi e consumatori. Negli ultimi decenni l'umanità ha attraversato un numero crescente di problemi ambientali, che hanno portato a una posizione forte da parte di diversi attori nella lotta contro il cambiamento ambientale e il riscaldamento globale. I dati delle principali istituzioni e ricercatori mostrano la possibilità di un crescente numero di problemi ed effetti, se non ci sarà un forte impegno per affrontare il problema. Un dato rilevante che evidenzia la difficile situazione ambientale che stiamo affrontando è che, negli ultimi cinque anni, l'Earth Overshoot Day cade ad Agosto, e secondo diversi studi nel 2050, la temperatura dovrebbe salire di 2°C, portando a diversi effetti. Questi fattori hanno portato a un maggiore interesse e una crescita del valore di quella che viene chiamata Green Economy. La Green Economy è definita come: basse emissioni, efficienza sotto il profilo delle risorse e socialmente inclusiva. In un'economia verde, la crescita dell'occupazione e del reddito è guidata da investimenti pubblici e privati in attività economiche, infrastrutture e risorse che consentono una riduzione delle emissioni di carbonio e dell'inquinamento, una maggiore efficienza energetica e delle risorse e la prevenzione della perdita di biodiversità. La green economy comprende un aspetto importante che viene definito come eco innovazione, ovvero l'innovazione, che mira a ridurre l'impatto ambientale mantenendo l'efficienza dei costi. È risaputo che ogni azienda ha come obiettivo principale quello di aumentare i propri profitti e aumentare la propria presenza sul mercato. In questa tesi ci sarà l'analisi del concetto di eco innovazione e del suo impatto sull'ambiente. A seguire ci sarà una analisi di come un'azienda può attuare una strategia che portato al successo attraverso l'innovazione. Si prevede che l'eco innovazione vedrà un grande aumento nei prossimi anni, grazie agli incentivi del mercato e alle spinte politiche. Ci sono diversi studi che mostrano come l'eco innovazione possa davvero avere un impatto sulle prestazioni ambientali, ottenendo nel complesso un effetto positivo, in termini di inquinamento, rifiuti, materiale chimico ecc. Poiché l'azienda cerca sempre più profitti, quando applica l'innovazione, valutare il legame tra innovazione e successo aziendale. Le aziende utilizzano l'innovazione come strategia di successo che può portare all'internazionalizzazione e a una migliore performance delle esportazioni. È obiettivo di questa tesi l’analisi dell'impatto dell'eco innovazione sulla performance delle esportazioni. Secondo diversi studi esiste una relazione positiva tra eco innovazione e internazionalizzazione, poiché l'eco innovazione consente alle aziende di cogliere maggiori opportunità di mercato e di cogliere maggiori standard normativi e, inoltre, di ridurre i costi ed essere più efficienti. In generale, esiste anche una relazione positiva tra innovazione e internazionalizzazione di un'azienda. Un altro fattore importante è che l’innovazione può portare all'efficienza energetica, con una riduzione dei costi, e a seguito una maggiore possibilità di investire nell'espansione del proprio mercato. Poiché l'obiettivo della tesi è anche quello di arricchire la letteratura disponibile, ci sarà l'analisi dell'impatto dell'eco innovazione sulla performance internazionale di 8 aziende selezionate, attraverso interviste effettuate e analizzate dal sottoscritto. Il risultato di questa analisi è che 5 aziende su 8 che hanno introdotto l'eco innovazione si trovano ad affrontare performance internazionali più elevate.
