With the proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT) network, a large number of mobile transmitters are now integrated into various systems, including home applications, sensors, surveillance cameras, actuators, displays, vehicles, among others. This calls for more sophisticated and integrated designs to enhance the power efficiency, decrease cost, make it compatible with some other IoT communication standards and even support multi-radio coexistence. This work presents a digital power amplifier (DPA) for IoT applications. Its digital intensive nature allows it to be integrated in polar RF-DAC-based TX architectures, where all together enables a digital intensive solution that not only scales very well with upcoming CMOS technologies, but also helps get rid of power hungry, expensive and bulky elements. The DPA can deliver an output power of 13dBm at 2.4GHz. It features 41% drain efficiency and 37% power-added efficiency (PAE).
