Introduction: The widespread introduction of electronic, computerized and digital systems has posed new challenges and opportunities for nurses and nursing students. In this dynamic context, measuring digital literacy allows you to navigate an evolving healthcare environment in which the collection and management of digital information has become fundamental to efficient and effective nursing practice. This scoping review aims to synthesize and critically analyze the best evidence on assessment tools that measure the digital literacy of nurses and nursing students. Materials and Methods: The PCC framework was used according to the eligibility criteria for study selection. Therefore, this scoping review includes studies focused on nurses, regardless of their demographic characteristics, work experience or specialty, and studies investigating digital literacy tools. This study was conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) statements, and the results were summarized in the PRISMA flowchart. The following electronic databases were consulted: PubMed (Medline®), Embase (accessible via Elsevier), CINAHL Complete (accessible via EBSCOhost), Scopus and Web of Science. Results: 40.9% of the studies analyzed concerned nursing students, while 59.1% concerned nursing professionals. Although more than half of the studies came from America, particularly the United States of America, there are significant studies on the topic conducted all over the world. Discussions and conclusions: There is a need to develop valid and reliable assessment tools to measure the digital literacy of nurses and nursing students. Adequate training and support for nurses in developing digital skills must be a priority for training institutions and healthcare institutions. Joint efforts are needed by academic institutions, nursing professionals and health authorities to promote and support research on nurses' digital skills in Italy. This thesis work proposes the ad hoc creation of an assessment tool that measures the digital literacy of nurses and nursing students.
Sono stati consultati i seguenti database elettronici: PubMed (Medline®), Embase (accessibile tramite Elsevier), CINAHL Complete (accessibile tramite EBSCOhost), Scopus e Web of Science.
