The subject of this thesis focuses on the redevelopement of the ex Eternit area between the Po river and the old town center, and passed through a long irrigation ditch. In this area there was the biggest factory all over Europe that for more than 70 years had been producing asbestos concrete products, at first being a symbol of industry, but later becoming a drama for its citizens and workers. That so called “Artificial Stone” seemed to be the product of the future, but in reality it has become a serious problem for health, because the fibers bursted off during the processing really deteriorated the breathing apparatus, causing huge and irreversible damages to lungs. Now, instead of the factory, there is a big hole with a concrete pouring and several ruins; the aim is, at this point, to make a new aesthetic a moral feature of this abandoned part of the town. The city plan is designed so as to be perfectly connected and integrated with the rest of town. The Po river green area almost surrounds the zone, suggesting different possibilities, such as positioning of buildings, and creating several pedestrian and cycle lanes, healthy paths through the nature. A multifunctional building offers services both to the park and the town, while a residential one is a barrier between nature and the town center. The bulk of the project are a the several public areas and meeting points. All that is outlined with green areas and gardens, a library and a bar. But above all a huge square, connecting the two parts of the area, where there is an open theatre which varies its function into a place where to eat. At the end of this big square a museum as statement of all the sufferings of the town, memories and representation that will help not to forget the Asbestos concrete question. To conclude, the aim is to give life to an area of Casale Monferrato that for ages has been identified with unpleasant memories.

Abstract
To conclude, the aim is to give life to an area of Casale Monferrato that for ages has been identified with unpleasant memories.È consentito all'utente scaricare e condividere i documenti disponibili a testo pieno in UNITESI UNIPV nel rispetto della licenza Creative Commons del tipo CC BY NC ND.
