The Foletto’s pharmaceutical laboratory is an example of the development that pharmacies and the professional figure of the pharmacist underwent during the twentieth century. It was a production laboratory, located in a small valley in Trentino Alto Adige, flanked by the pharmacy business and boasted of a large production mainly of vegetable origin, ranging from products for food use to usual pharmaceutical forms for medicinal purposes. Some of them underwent the process of being registered as medicinal specialties and the main ones, of which I analysed the composition and production technique, were: - Foletto’s Stomatic Tincture, flavored fluid extract of mountain herbs produced with the percolation technique and with digestive and purifying action; - products based on Pinolina, essence obtained by distillation from the dwarf pine and white fir branches, prepared in the form of tablets, with sedative and against cough action, or balm, used on the skin for the treatment of pain and for clear the respiratory tract; - Pinosot Foletto, a syrup based mainly on Pinolina, used for the treatment of bronchopulmonary diseases, present in two formulations; - the injectable vials of Digitalis Foletto, made from the juice of Digitalis Grandiflora, used for the treatment of heart failure.
