L'HARMONIUM IN ITALIA. IL REPERTORIO A STAMPA E IL SUO CONTESTO STORICO; CON UN PRIMO CATALOGO DELLE EDIZIONI.

This dissertation is a research into the harmonium repertory printed in Italy between 1860 and 1940. It comprises a I part aiming at outlining the historic background where the Reform of the Sacred Music developed, between the Nineteenth and the Twentieth century. Moreover, the study supplies a synthetic overview of the activities of music publishing houses, of the main specialist revues of the time and of the harmonium makers present on the national territory. Thanks to a rich archive material, constiting of an almost unknown musical heritage , the II part intends to outline the figure and the work of an Italian composer particularly interested in the harmonium , namely Luigi Bottazzo. The III part includes a first list of harmonium solo Italian periodicals, both monographs or anthologies and musical supplements in magazines.

La dissertazione è una ricerca sul repertorio per harmonium stampato in Italia tra il 1860 e il 1940 circa. Essa comprende una I parte che ha l’obiettivo di delineare il quadro storico in cui si è sviluppata la Riforma della musica sacra tra Ottocento e Novecento e dove si fornisce una sintetica panoramica sull’attività delle case editrici musicali, delle principali riviste specialistiche dell’epoca e delle ditte costruttrici di harmonium presenti sul territorio nazionale. A fronte di un ricchissimo materiale, costituito da un patrimonio musicale pressoché sconosciuto, la II parte intende tratteggiare la figura e l’opera di un didatta e compositore ‘ceciliano’ particolarmente interessato all’harmonium quale fu Luigi Bottazzo. La III parte, invece, è costituita da un primo elenco delle edizioni italiane per harmonium solo, sia che si tratti di pubblicazioni monografiche o antologiche, sia supplementi musicali a corredo di riviste.
