New surgical therapeutic options for lymphedema, such as lymph node auto-transplantation and lympho-venous anastomoses, require imaging modalities able to study the lymphatic system and quantify lymphedema before and after the treatment. This study illustrates the reliability of noncontrast MR lymphography (NC-MRL) for imaging of lymphedema and proposes a new semiquantitative grading.

Abstract

New surgical therapeutic options for lymphedema, such as lymph node auto-transplantation and lympho-venous anastomoses, require imaging modalities able to study the lymphatic system and quantify lymphedema before and after the treatment. This study illustrates the reliability of noncontrast MR lymphography (NC-MRL) for imaging of lymphedema and proposes a new semiquantitative grading.
