Sicurezza Artica Dopo il 2014. L'esercito Russo Sotto i Riflettori.

The Arctic region traditionally attracts the attention of researchers, as the political and economic interests of the Arctic countries intersect there, among which there are very large players in world politics. The latest outbreak of interest in the region is associated with increasing global warming, which is accelerating even more in the Arctic, and the latest wave of militarization of the region. Despite a solid amount of research in various areas, the study of the military component is becoming more and more relevant. This dissertation raises the question of the connection between the occupation and annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation, provocation, and participation in the war in Donbas in 2014 with the start of a rapid build-up of military forces in the Arctic. The thesis illustrates the dynamics of the militarization of the Russian Arctic over the past 10 years and establishes links with Russia’s actions in Ukraine in 2014. Particular attention is paid to the build-up of military power in the Russian Arctic and the analysis of Russia’s military potential in the region.

La regione artica attira tradizionalmente l’attenzione dei ricercatori, poiché vi si intersecano gli interessi politici ed economici dei paesi artici, tra i quali ci sono attori molto grandi della politica mondiale. L’ultimo scoppio di interesse nella regione è associato all’aumento del riscaldamento globale, che sta accelerando ancora di più nell’Artico, e all’ultima ondata di militarizzazione della regione. Nonostante una solida mole di ricerca in vari ambiti, lo studio della componente militare sta diventando sempre più rilevante. Questa dissertazione solleva la questione del collegamento tra l’occupazione e l’annessione della Crimea da parte della Federazione Russa, la provocazione e la partecipazione alla guerra nel Donbas nel 2014 con l’inizio di un rapido accumulo di forze militari nell’Artico. La tesi illustra la dinamica della militarizzazione dell’Artico russo negli ultimi 10 anni e stabilisce collegamenti con le azioni della Russia in Ucraina nel 2014. Particolare attenzione è rivolta all’accumulo di potenza militare nell’Artico russo e all’analisi dell’esercito russo potenziale nella regione.
