Abstract
Life expectancy has been very lengthened in recent years and offers us a different vision of the elderly person, capable of leading an independent life in perfect psycho-physical efficiency. One of the main characteristics that defines the quality of life is the autonomy that is maintained or regained through the right physical activity. Physical activity no longer generalized, but specific and personalized, which is suitable for quantity and quality to the needs of the individual subject through a scientific approach that allows you to plan training in old age in a complete and professional manner. Then propose a targeted intervention, well structured to slow down a physiological phenomenon as aging is of primary importance to maintain the physical well-being and integrity of the subject as well as preventing many diseases that can be met with the passing of time. Otherwise there will be heavy repercussions in terms of social costs to ensure assistance services (home or residential) to an increasing number of subjects unable to perform normal daily activities in sufficient autonomy. The aspects that most characterize the neuro-motor decline of the organism during aging are the loss of muscle mass and strength: a complex multifactorial phenomenon that takes the name of sarcopenia, which involves a progressive functional impotence and physical disability. The new studies in this regard give good ideas to try to slow down sarcopenia, so that older people can maintain a good quality of life, but everything requires great professionalism, availability, sensitivity and above all knowledge and specific technical skills (competent staff) ). Implementing an anti-aging program by personalizing training in the most complete and professional sense is a very effective, preventive, more effective than any medical prescription that is often recommended when the sarcopenic condition has already been established for some time and can not easily be counteracted with drugs . The goal is to reason at 360 ° just starting from the knowledge of sarcopenia and the phenomena that are established in aging to propose a training and reconditioning strategy for the elderly who is not predominantly aerobic, which is very limited if not completely insufficient to slow down sarcopenia. Aerobic exercise and gentle gymnastics recommended for years as unique activities for the elderly, can not replace the work against resistance and strength, which is the most productive and scientifically validated intervention to preserve muscle mass, strength and executive power of the movement.È consentito all'utente scaricare e condividere i documenti disponibili a testo pieno in UNITESI UNIPV nel rispetto della licenza Creative Commons del tipo CC BY NC ND.
