L’importanza del ruolo del paziente nel Management Ospedaliero

How can the active involvement - engagement - of the patient in the hospital sector positively influence the exclusivity of care and clinical results, and how can this involvement be used as a factor to outline an adequate strategy? The thesis therefore begins to delve deeper into this important theme, through the case study of a neurological center of excellence in Lombardy. The qualitative analysis of four interviews with the identified key informants allows us to outline their experiences and perceptions regarding their involvement in the care process. The objective is therefore to provide an in-depth understanding of how patient involvement can be used as a lever to gain a competitive advantage. Patient engagement, in fact, positively impacts not only the patient experience, leading to increased involvement which often also results in a better quality of care, but also, consequently, to a more positive perception of the healthcare organisation. . The nature of the research question guiding the thesis requires an exploratory study that includes a qualitative methodology based on the in-depth analysis of a case study. The results of the research reveal how, indeed, the active involvement of the patient can be a factor with a positive impact on the outcomes of the treatment and the quality of life, through the inclusion - during treatment - of logic centered on the patient and his well-being physical and psychological, contributing to what has previously emerged from the literature review.

Come può il coinvolgimento attivo - engagement - del paziente nel settore ospedaliero influenzare in positivo l’esclusività delle cure e i risultati clinici, e in che modo questo coinvolgimento può essere utilizzato come fattore per delineare una strategia adeguata? La tesi inizia dunque ad approfondire questo importante tema, attraverso il caso studio di un centro neurologico di eccellenza in Lombardia. L’analisi qualitativa di quattro interviste ai key informant identificati permette di delineare le loro esperienze e percezioni riguardo il loro coinvolgimento nel processo di cura. L’obiettivo è quindi fornire una comprensione approfondita di come il coinvolgimento del paziente possa essere utilizzato come leva per ottenere un vantaggio competitivo. Il patient engagement, infatti, impatta positivamente non solo l’esperienza del paziente, portando ad un aumentato coinvolgimento che spesso risulta anche in una migliore qualità delle cure, ma anche, di riflesso, ad una piu positiva percezione dell’organizzazione sanitaria. . La natura della domanda di ricerca che guida la tesi richiede uno studio esplorativo che include una metodologia qualitativa basata sull’analisi approfondita di un case study. I risultati della ricerca rivelano come, effettivamente, il coinvolgimento attivo del paziente possa essere un fattore con un impatto positivo sugli esiti del trattamento e la qualità della vita, attraverso l’inserimento - durante il trattamento - di logiche centrate sul paziente e sul suo benessere fisico e psicologico, contribuendo a quanto è precedentemente emerso dalla revisione della letteratura.
