Abstract
The research explores the Role of startup Partnerships in advancing sustainable mobility solutions in response to European Environmental regulations, with a comparative focus on German and Italian automotive companies. The study sheds light on how these companies, through collaborations with startups, pursue innovation and meet regulatory requirements, answering the research question “How differently do German and Italian automotive companies partner with startups to advance innovative sustainable mobility solutions?” Adopting the Institutional Theory and Resource View of the Strategic alliances model from the literature, the research reveals that both German and Italian automotive companies consider startup partnerships crucial for acquiring the necessary technologies and resources to foster new sustainable mobility solutions. Despite similarities in the formal types of partnerships and open innovation initiatives, significant differences arise in the execution of these collaborations. While German companies generally adopt a more structured and process-oriented approach, Italian firms demonstrate a more flexible and result-oriented approach. These diverse behaviors are influenced by the institutional context in which the companies are embedded. The study highlights the need for future research efforts to discover and develop tailored partnership models that consider the unique regulatory and market conditions of each country.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
