L’arte dell’intervista televisiva: analisi e tecniche di un genere giornalistico

This thesis explores the art and techniques of the television interview as a journalistic genre, analysing in depth four famous interviews that have marked media history and shaken public opinion: Princess Diana's interview with Martin Bashir, Monica Lewinsky's interview with Barbara Walters, the Watergate affair with Richard Nixon and Enzo Biagi's interview of Tommaso Buscetta. Each case is examined to highlight the complex dynamics between interviewer and interviewee, the narrative strategies adopted, and the ethical and deontological implications. The thesis also provides a practical guide to the construction of a television interview, articulating it into three essential phases: the ‘before’, dedicated to the preparation and construction of the relationship with the interviewee; the ‘during’, which examines the techniques of conducting and managing the interview; and the ‘after’, which is the elaboration and dissemination of the final content. Through the analysis of case studies and techniques used by leading journalists, it emerges how the interview is not just a tool for obtaining information, but an opportunity for dialogue that can reveal complex and nuanced truths. The aim of this work is to offer a useful resource for those approaching the art of the television interview, highlighting the crucial role of empathy, ethics and preparation in achieving an authentic and impactful interview.

Questa tesi esplora l'arte e le tecniche dell'intervista televisiva come genere giornalistico, analizzando in profondità quattro celebri interviste che hanno segnato la storia mediatica e scosso l'opinione pubblica: l'intervista della Principessa Diana con Martin Bashir, quella di Monica Lewinsky con Barbara Walters, il caso Watergate con Richard Nixon e David Frost e l'intervista di Tommaso Buscetta da parte di Enzo Biagi. Ogni caso viene esaminato per mettere in luce le dinamiche complesse tra intervistatore e intervistato, le strategie narrative adottate, nonché le implicazioni etiche e deontologiche. La tesi fornisce inoltre una guida pratica alla costruzione di un'intervista televisiva, articolandola in tre fasi essenziali: il "prima", dedicato alla preparazione e alla costruzione del rapporto con l'intervistato; il "durante", che esamina le tecniche di conduzione e gestione dell'intervista; e il "dopo", ovvero l'elaborazione e la diffusione del contenuto finale. Attraverso l’analisi dei casi studio e delle tecniche utilizzate dai principali giornalisti, emerge come l'intervista non sia solo uno strumento per ottenere informazioni, ma un'occasione di dialogo che può rivelare verità complesse e sfumate. L'obiettivo di questo lavoro è offrire una risorsa utile a chi si approccia all'arte dell'intervista televisiva, evidenziando il ruolo cruciale dell'empatia, dell'etica e della preparazione nel raggiungimento di un'intervista autentica e di impatto.
