L'alienazione e la Crisi d'Identità dell'Individuo - Dialogo tra T.S. Eliot e i Pink Floyd

This study proposes to analyze the theme of alienation, disillusionment and identity crisis through a comparison between two fundamental works of modernist literature by T.S. Eliot, The Waste Land and The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, and two conceptual albums by Pink Floyd, THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON and THE WALL. The main objective is to demonstrate how, despite belonging to different historical periods and means of expression, these texts share a profound investigation into the condition of the individual in modernity, using innovative artistic techniques and fragmented poetics to represent the disintegration of the human experience. The work is structured in four sections: the first part introduces Modernism, analyzing its fundamental characteristics and cultural context. The second section focuses on T. S. Eliot, exploring his poetic production with particular attention to The Waste Land and The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock. The third section is devoted to Pink Floyd, from their formation to their artistic evolution, analyzing the historical-musical context and the influence of the members' personal experiences on their works. Finally, the last section offers a direct comparison between the works of Eliot and those of Pink Floyd, highlighting the thematic and stylistic correspondences related to alienation, disillusionment and the crisis of the individual.

Questo studio si propone di analizzare il tema dell'alienazione, della disillusione e della crisi d'identità attraverso un confronto tra due opere fondamentali della letteratura modernista di T.S. Eliot, The Waste Land e The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, e due album concettuali dei Pink Floyd, THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON e THE WALL. L'obiettivo principale è dimostrare come, nonostante l'appartenenza a periodi storici e mezzi espressivi diversi, questi testi condividano una profonda indagine sulla condizione dell'individuo nella modernità, utilizzando tecniche artistiche innovative e poetiche frammentate per rappresentare la disintegrazione dell'esperienza umana. L'opera è strutturata in quattro sezioni: la prima parte introduce il Modernismo, analizzandone le caratteristiche fondamentali e il contesto culturale. La seconda sezione si concentra su T. S. Eliot, esplorando la sua produzione poetica con particolare attenzione a The Waste Land e The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock. La terza sezione è dedicata ai Pink Floyd, dalla loro formazione alla loro evoluzione artistica, analizzando il contesto storico-musicale e l'influenza delle esperienze personali dei membri sui loro lavori. Infine, l'ultima sezione offre un confronto diretto tra le opere di Eliot e quelle dei Pink Floyd, evidenziando le corrispondenze tematiche e stilistiche legate all'alienazione, alla disillusione e alla crisi dell'individuo.
