NANA-SAN-ICHI BUTAI: ANALISI STORICA DELL'UNITÀ DI RICERCA BIOLOGICA GIAPPONESE IN MANCIURIA E DEI FOLLI ESPERIMENTI DI ISHII SHIRŌ

The history of Unit 731 of the Imperial Japanese Army is an example of this kind of story. A history characterized by lies, falsehoods, unspoken truths, pain and repressed testimonies of horrors committed against another people and endorsed in the perspective of a nationalist and colonialist policy, strong in the evolution of Japanese internal politics and the international scenario. The history behind the experiments committed by this unit, an integral part of the war crimes committed by Imperial Japan, are what I have defined. The clear example of a half of national history that one does not want to talk about openly or, better, that one does not want to talk about in its entirety. But all the halves, the facets of a story must, as a historian's duty, be analyzed without brakes and limitations. Therefore, it is necessary to understand this story and analyze it fully, revealing all the truths and its components in order to complete it and insert it into the framework of Japanese national history, made, like all the others, of lights and shadows.

La storia dell’Unità 731 dell’esercito imperiale giapponese è un esempio di questo genere di storie. Una storia caratterizzata da menzogne, bugie, verità non dette, dolore e testimonianze represse di orrori commessi ai danni di un altro popolo e avallati nell’ottica di una politica nazionalista e colonialista, forte dell’evoluzione della politica interna giapponese e dello scenario internazionale. La storia dietro agli esperimenti commessi da questa unità, parte integrante dei crimini di guerra commessi dal Giappone Imperiale, sono ciò che ho definito. L’esempio lampante di una metà di storia nazionale di cui non si vuole parlare apertamente o, meglio, di cui non si vuole parlare nella sua interezza. Ma tutte le metà, le sfaccettature di una storia vanno, per dovere di storici, analizzate senza freni e limitazioni. Perciò occorre comprendere questa storia e analizzarla pienamente, svelando tutte le verità e le sue componenti di modo da completarla ed inserirla nel quadro della storia nazionale giapponese, fatta, come tutte le altre, di luci e ombre.
