The Promethean myth is one of the most fruitful and evolved ones from Greek Mythology and its evolution lead it to become the topic of some sarcophagi from the Roman Empire, ranging from the second to the fourth century CE. Their cataloging, analysis and exploration of themes and messages is crucial for the understanding of some of the most rare depictions employed by the Romans on their resting monuments and the philosophies, religions and notions that might have been at play in the selection of this particular motif.
