In this thesis work, the concentrations of 12 metals (Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd, Al, Pb, As, Hg and Se) were detected in exoskeleton, abdominal muscle and hepatopancreas of the Louisiana crayfish, whose scientific name is Procambarus clarkii, in order to verify its capacity as a biomonitor of environmental pollution. The main aim is to verify whether there are differences between the two sampling areas, that are the Oriented Nature Reserve – SIC ‘‘Monticchie’’ (Lodi) and the surrounding agricultural area called ‘‘buffer zone’’, but the interest also focuses on verifying differences in pollution through sexes, through the different sections of individuals and any correlations with the biometric measurements acquired. 76 crayfish were sampled in the protected area and 102 crayfish in the surrounding agricultural area, but of these 178 individuals, only 20 crayfish from the reserve and 20 crayfish from the agricultural area were analysed, selecting the largest specimens and ensuring that they were half male and half female. What would be expected is an higher concentrations of metals in the agricultural area since the sampling was carried out in the canals adjacent to soybean crops presumably treated with pollutants such as pesticides, especially herbicides and insecticides; the nature reserve, instead, should act as a control area, unloaded of pollutants.
