This pre-post study with multi-informant data collection (parents and children) examined the effectiveness of the Connect Parent Group program on 78 Italian parents of adolescent children, focusing on three research questions: (1) the consistency between the responses of parents and children, (2) changes in behavioral problems, attachment styles, and parental stress after the intervention, and (3) differences in responses to the program based on parental role and age. The results showed good agreement between the responses of caregivers and adolescents. Additionally, the analyses revealed a significant reduction in avoidant attachment and parental stress across the entire sample. Regarding internalizing problems, a significant reduction was observed in the mothers’ scores. No significant changes were found for externalizing problems. Although anxious attachment showed a significant effect over time, the changes were not strong enough to be considered meaningful. However, the interaction between time and parental age revealed that younger parents tended to experience a greater reduction in anxious attachment compared to older parents. These results were discussed within a theoretical framework that explores the themes of adolescence and parenting, emphasizing the importance of the Connect intervention in solidifying the quality of parent-child relationships during adolescence.

Abstract
These results were discussed within a theoretical framework that explores the themes of adolescence and parenting, emphasizing the importance of the Connect intervention in solidifying the quality of parent-child relationships during adolescence.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
