Cipriano di Cartagine, epist. 55: introduzione, traduzione e commento.

The present study aims to offer a comprehensive examination of Epistle 55 from the correspondence of Cyprian of Carthage. It provides a historical and cultural introduction to the text and to the context in which it was produced. Alongside the translation, a commentary is presented that analyzes the epistle from rhetorical, linguistic, and historical perspectives. The letter deals with the theme of penitence and its developments during the persecutions of the mid-third century A.D., as well as with the relations between Carthage and Rome.

La presente ricerca si propone di affrontare organicamente il testo dell'epistola 55 dell'epistolario di Cipriano di Cartagine. Viene offerta un'introduzione storico-culturale del testo e dell'ambiente che lo ha prodotto. Insieme alla traduzione, viene presentato un commento che analizza il testo da un punto di vista retorico, linguistico e storico. L'epistola affronta il tema penitenziale e i suoi sviluppi al tempo delle persecuzioni della metà del III secolo d.C. e le relazioni fra Cartagine e Roma
