This thesis aims to calculate the direct and indirect damages that flood disasters may cause on a sectoral basis in the Lombardy region and to estimate the gross profit damage amounts. In this research, sectoral analyses are carried out based on the NACE classification. How direct and indirect damages occur after floods and the impacts of these damages on the regional economy are examined. While direct damages of companies whose financial data are collected using the AIDA database are calculated, flood hazard maps are used. In contrast, indirect damages are calculated, interruptions in their chains, and effects on business continuity are considered. The methodology used during the research is based on vulnerability and exposure analyses for each sector. As a result, the findings reveal the dimensions of economic damages caused by flood disasters in different sectors. The areas with the highest losses that may be experienced sectorally have been determined. The study results provide important data for developing sectoral risk reduction strategies against flood disasters. In this context, strategic recommendations have been made to better understand the economic effects of flood disasters and minimise these effects, considering sectoral data specific to the Lombardy region.

As a result, the findings reveal the dimensions of economic damages caused by flood disasters in different sectors. The areas with the highest losses that may be experienced sectorally have been determined. The study results provide important data for developing sectoral risk reduction strategies against flood disasters.
