L’evoluzione delle operazioni di pace dopo la fine della Guerra Fredda

This thesis aims to analyze the role that the end of the Cold War played in UN peacekeeping missions, with respect to the changes in UN mandates and Security Council resolutions in the period before and after 1989. The analysis also considers the changes in the scope and objectives of the United Nations, as well as in the interpretative practice of the UN Charter with regard to interstate and intrastate conflicts. The argument takes into account case studies of peacekeeping missions in the Middle East, Bosnia, and South Sudan.

Questa tesi si propone di analizzare il ruolo che la fine della Guerra Fredda ha avuto sulle missioni di peacekeeping, in particolare, il cambiamento nei mandati e nelle risoluzioni del Consiglio di Sicurezza nel periodo precedente e successivo al 1989. La trattazione prende inoltre in considerazione il mutamento nei compiti e negli obiettivi delle Nazioni Unite e nella prassi interpretativa della Carta delle Nazioni Unite in riferimento ai cambiamenti strutturali avvenuti nel passaggio dai conflitti statali alle guerre interne. L’argomentazione considera le operazioni di peacekeeping in Medio Oriente, in Bosnia e in Sud Sudan.
