This thesis aims to explore the dialogue between psychoanalysis and Eastern thought through a comparison with three key figures in the psychoanalytic tradition: Wilfred R. Bion, Donald W. Winnicott and Jacques Lacan. The first chapter is devoted to Bion and the relationship between knowledge, non-knowing and transformation. Through a comparison with key tenets of Taoism, Zen and Indian thought, the clinical function of waiting, emptiness and the suspension of knowledge is explored in depth. The second chapter examines Winnicott, focusing on the body, the true and false self, the transitional space and play, in dialogue with Eastern practices and concepts such as zazen, yoga and wu-wei. The third chapter addresses Lacan’s relationship with China and Zen, exploring the limits of language, the function of writing, the Real and the analyst’s desire. The final chapter brings together the ethical implications of the journey undertaken, structuring them around three axes: limit, doubt and transformation. Ethics is understood here not as prescriptive morality, but as a clinical and subjective stance in the face of that which cannot be fully defined, controlled or resolved. From this perspective, the dialogue between psychoanalysis and Eastern thought enables us to conceive of treatment not as mere adaptation or normalisation, but as an opportunity to support the subject in their relationship with lack, not-knowing and change. The thesis concludes by demonstrating the relevance of this comparison in the contemporary context, characterised by the weakening of symbolic references, the proliferation of images, diagnoses, performances and immediate responses. Against this backdrop, psychoanalysis and Eastern thought enable us to critically examine the ways in which the subject seeks consistency, proposing a conception of therapy based on the openness of meaning, on tolerance of doubt and on the transformative potential of limits.
