This dissertation analyzes Le labyrinthe de Jean-Michel by Rosanne Aubé, a testimonial work published by Éditions Publistar in 2009, in which a Quebec mother recounts the journey of her autistic son from preschool to university. The central research question is twofold: how does Rosanne Aubé transform her personal experience into a literary narrative, and to what extent does this work portray autism as a universal issue? This study is structured around five chapters. The first establishes the theoretical framework on autism, its scientific definitions, and its social and cultural dimensions, particularly in the Cameroonian and European contexts. The second presents the author, her background and her narrative project. The third analyzes the representation of autism in the text, through the character of Jean-Michel, the challenges of language and maternal and educational support. The fourth examines the narrative, stylistic and paratextual devices that make this work a genuine literary creation. The fifth confronts the work with social reality through a qualitative and exploratory field study conducted among 25 members of the Cameroonian diaspora in Europe and Cameroon.
