This study investigated the relationship between interoception and body representation, examining whether temporarily focusing on cardiac signals could influence the graphical and semantic representation of the Self and Others. Forty participants were assigned to an interoceptive or exteroceptive condition and assessed using behavioral tasks, the Human Figure Drawing, semantic fluency tasks, and self-report measures. Overall, the results did not show a general improvement in body representation following interoceptive focusing. Drawing richness was greater in the group that began with the exteroceptive condition, while the Self was represented with greater richness than the Other regardless of condition. Exploratory analyses also revealed, within the experimental group, some associations between interoceptive accuracy and measures of body representation. These findings highlight the multidimensional nature of the relationship between interoception and body representation and suggest the need for further research.

Abstract
These findings highlight the multidimensional nature of the relationship between interoception and body representation and suggest the need for further research.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
