Internationalization has become an increasingly relevant dimension of growth and competitiveness for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). For industrial B2B firms, however, international expansion involves specific challenges related to limited resources, technological specialization, customer-specific solutions, long-term business relationships, and the need to balance growth opportunities with organizational capabilities. This thesis examines the internationalization of established industrial SMEs through the case of The Hyper Holding, an Italian industrial group operating in the field of customized battery systems and advanced electronic solutions. The study investigates internationalization as a multidimensional process shaped by the interaction of organizational capabilities, competitive positioning, international market opportunities, business relationships, and strategic choices concerning market entry. The research adopts a qualitative single-case study approach and combines the main theoretical perspectives on internationalization with an integrated analytical framework. The framework considers four complementary dimensions: organizational readiness, competitive positioning, international market selection, and entry mode choice. These dimensions are examined within the specific organizational and competitive context of the case. The study highlights how internationalization in industrial SMEs cannot be fully explained through a single theoretical model or a strictly sequential process. Rather, international development emerges from the interaction between firm-specific capabilities, accumulated experience, external relationships, market conditions, and the level of commitment that the organization is able to sustain. The case therefore provides an empirical perspective on how different internationalization perspectives can be combined to interpret the international development of specialized industrial SMEs.

Abstract
The case therefore provides an empirical perspective on how different internationalization perspectives can be combined to interpret the international development of specialized industrial SMEs.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
