In recent decades, sustainability and luxury have followed convergent evolutionary paths, finding in luxury hospitality a particularly promising point of intersection. Although this phenomenon is becoming increasingly relevant, existing literature still tends to address these two paradigms in a fragmented and separate manner, focusing mainly on other luxury sectors (such as fashion, automotive and consumer goods), at the expense of élite hospitality. This study aims to fill this gap by analyzing how the integration of ESG dimensions (Environmental, Social and Governance) can translate into an authentic and regenerative luxury model within the luxury hospitality sector, as well as the key factors that enable its concrete implementation. The research adopts a qualitative approach, consisting of an initial theoretical phase, dedicated to reconstructing the evolution of the three conceptual pillars (sustainability, tourism and luxury), the relevant regulatory framework and ESG practices applied in the sector, and a subsequent empirical phase, based on the case study of Il Borro conducted through two primary sources, the 2025 sustainability report and a semi-structured interview with the management. The findings demonstrate that the convergence of sustainability and luxury depends on three simultaneous conditions: a structured theoretical and regulatory framework, the implementation of ESG practices capable of generating measurable economic value and a corporate culture built on long-term governance, strong local ties and the centrality of human relationships. The case of Il Borro confirms the validity of these results and extends their relevance to a national scale, positioning Italy as a benchmark in European luxury hospitality and opening new perspectives for the future of the sector.

Abstract
The case of Il Borro confirms the validity of these results and extends their relevance to a national scale, positioning Italy as a benchmark in European luxury hospitality and opening new perspectives for the future of the sector.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
