Archaeological interpretations of the past are predominantly subjective rather than objective. This subjectivity arises not only from the quality of archaeological data but also from the personal perspectives of archaeologists, shaped by their social, economic, political, and cultural contexts. Politics plays a significant role in shaping theoretical and methodological advancements in archaeology. Moreover, archaeology is political in its nature because as long as it interprets the past, it also produces ideology, The crucial question arises: What does archaeology and being an archaeologist signify in the contemporary world, particularly with the hegemony of capitalism as a dominant ideology of our era? Archaeology becomes a significant component of this dominant ideology, as interpretations produced by archaeologists can serve to legitimize and normalize specific power structures, including hierarchies. Considering this reality, one must question whether archaeology merely involves excavation and categorization within the framework of capitalist hegemony or if alternative approaches exist to dissent from the status quo and critique the prevailing ideology. The aim of this thesis is to introduce anarchist theory and its application in archaeology as an alternative, illustrated through case studies and the application of anarchist principles to the Terramare culture in northern Italy as an example of an anarchic society.

Abstract
The aim of this thesis is to introduce anarchist theory and its application in archaeology as an alternative, illustrated through case studies and the application of anarchist principles to the Terramare culture in northern Italy as an example of an anarchic society.È consentito all'utente scaricare e condividere i documenti disponibili a testo pieno in UNITESI UNIPV nel rispetto della licenza Creative Commons del tipo CC BY NC ND.
