This research aims to investigate the extent to which foreign direct investment (FDI) promotes technology transfer and contributes to economic growth, taking as an example the case of China and the choices that led the country to invest in the South American continent, specifically in Brazil and Argentina, which were the main recipient countries between 2010 and 2020 according to the CEPAL/ECLAC document "Relations between Latin America and the Caribbean and China: areas of opportunity for more productive, inclusive and sustainable development, 2025". Moreover, the cases of BYD for the automotive field expanding in Brazil, and the lithium sector in Argentina will be discussed to further highlight the effects of investments in the case of foreign companies operating abroad.
