The document aims to analyze the importance of the memory of the Res publica in the process of formation of the Principatus. The thesis will deal with Augustus and Tiberius, and the main purpose will be to search in the literature of the early imperial age for examples of how the memory of the past and the glory of the Republic were an important theme for the narration and justification of the current Principate.
Il lavoro si propone di analizzare l'importanza della memoria della Res publica nel processo di formazione del sistema governativo del principato. La tesi si occuperà dei principati di Augusto e di Tiberio, ricercando nella letteratura della prima età imperiale esempi di come la memoria del passato e la gloria della Repubblica fossero un tema principale per la narrazione e la giustificazione dell'attuale principato.
