Due to an increase of environmental issues around the world, the number of sustainable organizations is growing as a common trend or as a way to reach economic goal and environmental safeguard. Despite this, there are some questions and topics that should be clarified in order to develop a profile of sustainable company, categorized as born sustainable or non-born sustainable. This work aims to analyze similarities and differences between traditional and sustainable businesses from many point of view, i.e. nature, values, goals, technical structure and ways of operation, in order to cover the gap left by past studies. It, also, underlines some concepts of traditional theories adapted to sustainability trying to build a technical background that fit the definition of born sustainable compared to non-born sustainable organization. The work is proved by an analysis of 65 companies operating with sustainable measures, considering their nature, behavior towards sustainability, values, changes, innovations and investments adopted. The results demonstrate that born sustainable and non-born sustainable organizations are more similar from a technical point of view, in terms of sustainable goals, changes and investments, organizational structure and sustainable business model. In general, their sustainable orientation is represented by high level of importance for environmental, economic and social goals, with a strong consideration for sustainability and its values. However, they can differ from a strategic point of view according to their nature, backgrounds, period and method to enter the sustainable market.

However, they can differ from a strategic point of view according to their nature, backgrounds, period and method to enter the sustainable market.È consentito all'utente scaricare e condividere i documenti disponibili a testo pieno in UNITESI UNIPV nel rispetto della licenza Creative Commons del tipo CC BY NC ND.
