During the period of his teaching Jacques Lacan does not devote a systematic study to the subject of anorexia, nevertheless it is possible to find some notes, mostly consisting of transcriptions of his oral comments, in which the subject is treated. In one of these notes Lacan highlights "fixation to the mother" as a characteristic trait of anorexia. The clinic of anorexia actually shows how the relationship between the anorexic subject and his mother is frequently characterised by a bond; this sort of sticking takes on different meanings on the basis of the structure (neurotic or psychotic) that the subject assumes. If the mother of the anorexic girl is characterised by an excess (excess of presence, excess of food, excess of enjoyment, ...) typically, it is a weak father to make them counterbalance; by "father" we do not mean here necessarily the real father, but a function: the interdictory function that allows a successful outcome of the oedipal triangulation. Being able to detect characteristics more or less typical of the mother in cases of anorexia, should not however make think of the mother as the cause of the anorexic symptom, of which, in the end, the subject is always responsible and which, in different ways, she uses in the relationship with the maternal "other".

Abstract
Being able to detect characteristics more or less typical of the mother in cases of anorexia, should not however make think of the mother as the cause of the anorexic symptom, of which, in the end, the subject is always responsible and which, in different ways, she uses in the relationship with the maternal "other".È consentito all'utente scaricare e condividere i documenti disponibili a testo pieno in UNITESI UNIPV nel rispetto della licenza Creative Commons del tipo CC BY NC ND.
