A social network analysis on the transfers in professional Italian football is implemented in this research paper. The first chapter includes a theoretical framework on the network science, that serves as an introduction for the rest of the work. The second chapter contains a historical review of network analyses on sports. Chapter 3 and 4 identify the core of this study. A network analysis is implemented on a 5-year transfer record concerning Serie A clubs. Both descriptive and predictive metrics are adopted. Italian sports clubs seem to behave slightly differently with respect to most European clubs. Hence, the Italian football transfer market presents some peculiar features. All the findings are summarized in the last chapter
