Regional integration has played an important role at the economic, political and social level in South America. Mercosur or the Common South Market is regarded as one of the most successful example of regionalism in the world. The member states are Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Venezuela and Bolivia (in process of adhesion). Since Mercosur is an integration process with a strong focus at improving the region, the principle of sustainable development has started playing an important role. Thus, also environmental protection began playing an important role. In this regard, I believe that special attention needs to be given to Argentina, because of its relevant geographic, political and economic position in the region. In particular, I want to analyze whether being a member of a regional integration such as Mercosur has affected environmental politics of Argentina. My research will consist firstly, in studying Mercosur structure and functions. Secondly, in understanding the role played by the environment in the integration process. Thirdly, in analyzing national environmental politics in Argentina and making a comparison between Argentinian and Brazilian national decisions on the safeguard of the environment. Finally, I will establish if the Argentinian safeguard of the environment has been influenced by the regional organization of Mercosur.

Abstract
Finally, I will establish if the Argentinian safeguard of the environment has been influenced by the regional organization of Mercosur.È consentito all'utente scaricare e condividere i documenti disponibili a testo pieno in UNITESI UNIPV nel rispetto della licenza Creative Commons del tipo CC BY NC ND.
