La psicoterapia è stata definita da Brent e Kolko (1998) come “una modalità di trattamento dove il terapista e il paziente lavorano insieme per migliorare le condizioni psicopatologiche e la compromissione funzionale attraverso la focalizzazione su: a) relazione terapeutica; b) attitudini del paziente, pensieri, affetti e comportamenti; c) contesto sociale e lo sviluppo.
