Evangelista Torricelli: Genio Matematico tra Antichi e Moderni - Analisi dei contributi di Torricelli allo sviluppo della Matematica nel Seicento

This thesis primarily focuses on the mathematician and scientist of Faentine origin, Evangelista Torricelli (Rome, 1608 – Florence, 1647), and on his nu- merous contributions to the scientific development of the seventeenth century, in both mathematics and physics. The work is structured into nine chapters, which begin by situating Torricelli within his historical context and then pro- ceed to examine, in technical detail, the mathematical results presented in his writings.

Il seguente lavoro di tesi si focalizza soprattutto sulla figura del matematico e scienziato di origini faentine Evangelista Torricelli (Roma 1608 - Firenze 1647) e sui suoi molteplici contributi allo sviluppo scientifico del XVII secolo, sia in campo matematico che fisico. L’elaborato è costituito da nove capitoli nei qua- li, dapprima, si inquadra storicamente Torricelli e poi si analizzano in modo tecnico i risultati matematici riportati nelle sue opere.
