Intimate Partner Violence means physical, psychological or sexual harm by one partner or former partner to the detriment of the other. This phenomenon can be perpetrated both by women and men, but the percentage of female victims is extremely higher. It is estimated that one in three women experiences violence in her lifetime, and the majority of such violence is committed by partners or ex-partners. According to the ecological model considered by the World Health Organization, violence can only be understood by analyzing all its levels (individual, relational, community and social) and by acting on each of them. Victim support centers are therefore fundamental, but they are not sufficient to interrupt the phenomenon, they must be associated with targeted interventions towards the perpetrators of violence. In addition to a broad social and community intervention, treatments aimed at abusive men are therefore necessary, in order to stop violence starting from its roots, avoiding possible relapses. For this purpose, various treatments were born in Italy, among which the first one was the "Centro di Ascolto Uomini Maltrattanti" in Florence, which since 2009, following an ecological and motivational approach, made individual or group paths available to offenders to get out of violence, engaging in the social changes that will be necessary to transform the way in which violence is seen and intervened and how it is perceived.
