The present study aims to study and measure the construct of future orientation, especially the development of future-oriented behaviours and Mental Time Travel (MTT) and the relationship between them and language and executive functions in pre-school children. In addition, links between past orientation and future orientation of the child were investigated. In pursuit of these aims, several tests were administered, including the DSR, the Two Rooms, the Picture Book and the Past and Future Talk. 45 pre-school children (29 boys and 16 girls, 3-5 years old) recruited from two equal schools in Genoa and a bilingual school in Milan took part in the research drawing. Only 24 of these 45 children were able to take part in the Past & Future Talk test due to the health emergency involving our country. According to the literature, the results showed a correlation between the ability of Mental Time Travel and the development of some executive functions that shows how the ability to travel mentally over time is a skill closely related to cognitive development.
