The thesis analyses the impact of the AI Act on the use of artificial intelligence in Public Administration. After an overview of the main characteristics, applications, opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence, the study examines the digital transformation of Public Administration and the use of AI in public services. It then focuses on Regulation (EU) 2024/1689, with particular attention to the risk-based classification of AI systems, prohibited practices, high-risk systems and the obligations imposed on the actors involved. The final part analyses the consequences of the AI Act for public administrations, focusing on the obligations of deployers, transparency, accountability, the protection of fundamental rights and the main organisational and professional challenges related to the use of artificial intelligence.
