This study examines the decline of virilism and the Fascist family model in post-World War II Italian narrative, focusing on the works of Natalia Ginzburg, Vitaliano Brancati, and Elsa Morante. Following a reconstruction of the historical and cultural context, the investigation explores the subversion of archetypes imposed by the regime: the warrior "Uomo nuovo" and the woman as the "Angelo del focolare", highlighting their gradual disintegration in post-war literary representations. Through a comparative analysis of selected novels, the thesis highlights the crisis of masculinity, embodied by figures of inept and fragile men who are unable to fulfill the imposed virilist model, as well as the erosion of traditional paternal authority. Simultaneously, it analyzes the emergence of the feminine, manifested through active, ambivalent, and at times emancipated female characters capable of challenging codified social and familial roles. Finally, the transformation of gender relations is reflected in the family structure, which in the examined texts is marked by the overcoming of patriarchy and the establishment of new, often unstable and traumatic, balances. By comparing different narrative trajectories, the thesis demonstrates how literature becomes a privileged space for the critical re-elaboration of Fascism's cultural legacy, offering a complex representation of the tensions between individual crisis, social change, and the redefinition of family models.

Abstract
By comparing different narrative trajectories, the thesis demonstrates how literature becomes a privileged space for the critical re-elaboration of Fascism's cultural legacy, offering a complex representation of the tensions between individual crisis, social change, and the redefinition of family models.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
